Are you a 'people person'? Can you deal with cranky babies and crankier shoppers? After a shift of ten or twelve hours? If so, you may be the perfect candidate for one of the temporary positions that Toys "R" Us will be offering up this season. (Or, if you're a long-time member of the Pink Slipped Nation, the specter of destitution may be way scarier than a host of screaming zombies families looking for Top Chef Elmo.) This year the toy retailer will be hiring 35,000 seasonal workers (which will actually include some manager types), about the same as for the previous two holiday periods. To find these jobs, visit the company's website at, find a store near you, and then hunt for part-time or seasonal openings.

Since recent sales projections for Christmas 2009 aren't particularly promising, and because 2008's last quarter showed a 5% decline, perhaps Toys "R" Us, with its hiring plans, is looking a bit too hard for a silver lining. But the opportunities -- and the optimism-- are most appreciated.
