With most non-essential offices closed around the globe, working from home is no longer a benefit or perk but the norm. So if you’re looking for a new job or side gig, here are 10 jobs you can do from home (and as a side benefit, when we get through this difficult time, performing these jobs now can boost your resume later).

1. Copywriter

If you’re a wordsmith or editor, there are many writing jobs that you can do at home, including copywriting. With a copywriting job, you can write about topics you’re already knowledgeable in or write about topics that require research. Everything online needs to be written, from landing pages to product descriptions. Copywriters perform that writing and get paid for their time.

2. Proofreader

Do grammatical errors drive you crazy? Are you constantly spotting mistakes in articles? If so, you could be the perfect proofreader. You’ll get to catch mistakes in other people’s writing, and if you’re someone who does this already, you’ll be paid for the privilege. If you search for proofreading roles online, you’ll find that there are always people and companies looking for proofreading skills.

3. Graphic Designer

If you’re a designer with an eye for color and graphics, you could work as a graphic designer from your home. With freedom and creativity, you could work for a company or individuals needing graphics. You could even sell your very own prints on marketplace platforms.

4. Virtual Assistant

More and more businesses are operating entirely online, so they’re always looking for virtual assistants to help keep everything organized and to manage administrative tasks. With this kind of role, you might be responding to emails, distributing documents, responding to business inquiries, and much more.

5. Social Media Manager

Managing social media accounts can be a great job to do from home. If you’re up on your social media platforms and current trends, taking control of the social media of a business could be right up your alley.

6. Transcriber

Doing transcriptions is an excellent job for someone with no experience. If you’ve got good hearing and you can type, you could work from home doing transcriptions. Many jobs require audio being written into transcriptions, from lawyers to journalists, and they don’t have time to do it themselves. This is where you can swoop in and snatch up those jobs, and the more experience you get, the more jobs will come your way.

7. English Teacher

If you’re a native English speaker, you already have an innate skill. People all over the world are looking to learn English, and you can teach them online. You can get a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) qualification from a college or directly from an organization that facilitates online teaching. After that, you can start teaching at home; all you need is an internet connection and a passion for teaching.

8. Customer Service Rep

Those chatbots on websites are all well and good, but sometimes people want an actual human to speak to. Today, companies might not want an office full of workers and are happy to outsource their customer support roles to freelancers. If you’ve got an excellent customer service manner and temperament, this could be the role for you.

9. Video Producer/Editor

Video content is huge these days. From recipes to tutorials, every company and news outlet is producing short, digestible videos for their social media accounts and websites. If you have video production or editing experience, you can use your behind-the-scenes skills for companies and individuals looking to visually connect with their audiences.

10. Tutor

Teaching is evolving; it’s not just in the classroom anymore. More and more parents are looking for people to tutor their kids at home to give them extra help. Whatever the subject, there will be someone out there looking to learn. You can do lessons over video chat, set your own hours, and make money, all while giving your work history a boost.
