Asset manager Wing Chau has filed a defamation suit against author Michael Lewis as well as W.W. Norton & Company, the publisher of Lewis' book about the 2008 financial crisis entitled The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine.

According to the suit, "In sharing the purported insider's view of the mortgage market meltdown, Lewis made false and defamatory statements about an experienced investment professional, Wing Chau, and his firm, Harding Advisory LLC."

Irrespective of the validity of Chau's allegations, they should prove to be a nice PR boost for Lewis, increasing sales of his book and keeping it atop The New York Times Best Sellers list for several more weeks (it's currently ranked No. 3 in paperback nonfiction).
