Target Stores, known as a leader in diversity recruitment and retention, and a top partner of nonprofit organization INROADS, which places minority interns at employers nationwide, was sued this week for disability discrimination by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The harmed employee has alleged that the store in Foothill Ranch in Orange County did not accommodate his need for the presence of a job coach or parent in any meeting or job performance, a requirement that was discussed when he was hired.

The said employee suffers from cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities, conditions that Target was aware of when he was hired. The EEOC alleges that the store ignored his inability to communicate without a job coach and substantially reduced his work hours.
