As emissions trading systems, such as “cap and trade,” rise in importance, the demand grows for environmentalists with some specialized knowledge of finance and economics, Otis says. There are several types of organizations that hire financial experts for environmental work including NGOs, governmental organizations, local land use organizations, the private sector, the nonprofit sector, and academic institutions.
