Rodney Dodge
Executive Director
Partnership for a Greener Centerville
211 Main Street, Suite 4
Centreville, TX 77445

Dear Mr. Dodge:

My experiences playing in the parks and public spaces of Centerville as a child have led directly to my majoring in urban planning and political science at Doric University.  After graduating in June, I would be excited to return to Centerville to help protect those public spaces as a program assistant at the Partnership for A Greener Centerville.

My studies have focused on issues the Partnership regularly contends with.  I wrote my senior thesis on the challenges of building broad-based coalitions to enact environmental policy changes at the municipal level.  Focusing on a 1998 recycling campaign in San Luis, Texas, I conducted interviews with local politicians and activists, and learned an enormous amount about environmental organizing in cities.

Writing the 40-page thesis also fine-tuned my writing skills, which I had previously honed as a summer intern at the Southwest Maritime Foundation.  At this foundation, I drafted proposals for grants to protect marine life in the Gulf of Mexico.  I also attended conferences and learned about the world of Texas-focused environmental foundations.

I believe my experiences have prepared me well to work at the Partnership. I am attaching a resume and will call you next week to inquire about scheduling an interview during my spring break from May 7th to 14th.  Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
Hector Diaz
