We are here today with Marisa Mackey and Germán Nande to talk about the launch of Vault.com’s new initiative with Adkins Matchett & Toy (AMT) to provide students and career changers with a leg-up in financial interview, internship and full-time job preparation.

What is AMT?

Marisa: AMT is the leader in financial training worldwide – we’ve been training incoming analysts and associates at the top investment banks for nearly fifteen years.

What type of training do you offer?

Marisa: We train accounting, financial modeling, valuation and deal structuring among other core skills for professionals of all capacities in the financial services field.

What makes AMT a leader in its field?

Marisa: It’s two-fold: Course design, class structure and materials coupled with unparalleled instructor quality with significant industry experience in investment banking, corporate strategy, consulting and accountancy.

Germán: Additionally, what you learn in our class is what you will use on the desk Monday morning.

Our courses are highly interactive with students working individually and in groups on drill questions, real-life cases and Excel models.

Marisa: We also teach the concepts behind practicalities. Anyone can “plug and chug” – we like to say that AMT goes beyond the “how” to the “why.”

You mentioned the industry experience of AMT’s instructors. Can you give us an example?

Marisa: Sure, Germán, for instance, worked as a senior consultant at Deloitte & Touche, as an investment banking associate at JP Morgan Chase and then as an Executive Director for WestLB in the credit risk department.  He also has his MBA from Kellogg. That breadth of experience helps him to be amazing in the classroom. We feel very lucky to have Germán on our team and students consistently reach out to him after classes for career advice – he’s become a mentor to many of them.

And Marisa, what is your background?

Marisa: I’ve worked in the industry for thirteen years as an investment banker at Lehman Brothers and credit investor at Tudor Investment Corporation. Today I am both an instructor and run AMT’s Americas division.

In addition to the in-house programs you run for investment banks, how can other professionals benefit from AMT’s training?

Germán: We hold monthly five-day open-enrollment courses where we train the same core skills that we teach at the investment banks. These give students and professionals a real leg-up. The instructors are the SAME instructors who train our in-house programs for the investment banks, making it truly world class training!

Who is the audience for AMT’s courses? Do they need to have a background in finance?

Germán: Anyone interested in a career in finance – that includes business schools students, liberal arts majors that want a head-start, and law students who want to understand the financial, accounting and valuation side of the deals they will work on. We’ve even begun delivering our in-house courses to some of the major law firms.

When is AMT offering these courses next and what deals can Vault.com subscribers receive?

Marisa: Our next open enrollment courses run in April and May. Normally these courses are $3750 ($750 / day), but for April we are offering Vault.com subscribers a phenomenal deal for $975 ($195 / day). This price includes all materials, laminated reference guides, access to our online recorded classes and online portal, and 24/7 instructor post-course email support. Interested Vault subscribers can reach our offices at (212) 706 8255 and mention Vault.com for the discount.

That sounds like a fantastic deal! Describe what else you’ll be offering students through the Vault.com – AMT partnership.

Marisa: We are tremendously excited about our initiatives with Vault.com. We will be providing monthly content and video featurettes with tips and tricks for financial interview and career success. We will also partner to provide live training events across the country and across the globe. Finally, we’ll be providing discounts on our world-famous publications including Midnight Manuals and technical workbooks. Stay tuned!
