Environmental Planners -- At the Local and National Levels

It’s a good time to be a planner, according to Rob Freudenberg, a senior planner at New York-based research and advocacy planning nonprofit Regional Plan Association. Planners typically work for municipalities or regional nonprofits, but these days, planners are increasingly in demand even in Washington, D.C. The Obama administration has a “planning perspective,” explains Freudenberg, so you can increasingly find planning-related jobs both in the federal government and in surrounding D.C. nonprofit world.

Freudenberg's work is focused on sustainable planning for Long Island and its surrounding areas.  He found his job after earning a master's degree in public administration with a focus on planning, and doing a fellowship at the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
