Tata Consultancy Services ramps up U.S. hiring

Business is booming for Mumbai, India-based Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS). The information technology outsourcing company has announced that it expects to increase its worldwide workforce by 60,000 this fiscal year, including approximately 1,200 new positions in the U.S.

Bloomberg News reports that annual sales for the company have quadrupled since 2005 to $8.4 billion. TCS executives are expecting future sales to increase by as much as 20 percent.

Vice president for human resources Ajoyendra Mukherjee told the news agency that the post-recessionary surge is giving way to an increase in business.

"As long as there's growth, you don't want to leave business on the table," Mukherjee commented. "What we're trying to do is make sure the supply chain is large enough to meet our growth requirements in the future."

TCS said it will also offer raises of about 12 percent through this fiscal year to help retain current workers.

The company offers a range of consulting services and specializes in using low-cost technology workers to replace expensive labor in developed countries. Its clients include Deutsche Bank AG and Hilton Worldwide.
