Genesis Biopharma hires Emmes Group for healthcare consulting

Biotechnology development company Genesis Biopharma Incorporated has announced that it has retained the Emmes Group consulting firm to help with business and strategic planning.

The Emmes Group is a market research and strategy consulting firm with offices in Boston and San Francisco. The company specializes in the healthcare and technology industries including market research and modeling, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and corporate financing.

Genesis Biopharma's president and chief executive officer (CEO), Anthony J. Cataldo, said the Emmes Group will help with the company's planned expansion of its therapeutic strategies in the development of a number of new cancer treatments.

"We have made significant progress in recent weeks in establishing a therapeutic development program based on autologous cell therapy, and The Emmes Group has the expertise and relationships to help us advance through the clinical and regulatory process, and ultimately into a commercial phase," Cataldo added.

According to Emmes, the treatment, which uses cells from a patient's own immune system to treat cancer, is one of the most promising areas in oncology research.

A recent report by Medco Health Systems found that sales of cancer drugs could increase by as much as 42 percent through 2013.
