Boston Consulting Group wins award for LGBT career development initiatives
In particular, the BCG program that was praised by the civil rights organization that bestowed the award on the consultancy was its "People Development Initiative," a program through which the company says it strives to encourage a working environment in which LGBT people can feel free to be themselves and develop their careers. The program includes regular workshops as well as a mentor program and peer-to-peer learning.
BCG claims that its LGBT Network grew at double-digit rates in 2009 and 2010 due to the success of the program. Approximately 90 percent of its members have reportedly been retained by BCG, and more than 25 percent have been promoted since 2009.
The Human Rights Campaign is honoring 337 organizations in total for their commitment to their LGBT workforce. In addition to BCG, Goldman Sachs also won the top honor with the Innovation award.
