Acta debuts mobile commerce consulting division
The company's chief executive officer (CEO) Anne Schelle said that the new mobile commerce division, which was formed through the acquisition of Path-2 Ventures, will help clients in the telecom, media and financial services industries take advantage of new opportunities in wireless communications.
"We are witnessing a quiet revolution in the way consumers interact with merchants, and the smartphone is the epicenter of this change. Purchasing products, connecting to loyalty groups, receiving coupons – activities achieved today by mail, email or in-person transactions – will soon be handled by smartphones," Schelle added.
Path-2 is a noted consulting firm in the field of banking, payments and management solutions.
Schelle said that three of Path-2's head executives will stay on at the new mobile commerce practice, which will be based out of Charlotte, North Carolina. The acquisition is part of Acta's expansion into the wireless technology services field.
Acta's clients include AIG, Verizon, Hewlett-Packard and AAA.
