ABOUT THE AUTHOR(S)
Joshua Heim, Abbey Gardner:

Joshua Heim is passionate about art, culture and social justice. Of particular interest to him is working with communities to develop creative interventions that help mediate inequality and motivate social change. He received a B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology from Lewis & Clark College, and is a graduate student in Cultural Studies and International Development Policy & Management at the University of Washington. He is currently an exhibits developer at Seattle’s Wing Luke Asian Museum, where he manages an arts-based youth leadership program and develops community-led exhibitions with Asian Pacific American communities who seek empowering cultural venues.

Abbey Gardner's current role is as a consultant to the United Nations Office of the Special Envoy for Haiti, where she serves as Senior Advisor on Programs. She attended Amherst College where she received her B.A. in Russian Studies in 1989 and completed her M.A. in Russian Area Studies at Georgetown University in 1990. In 2001, following a decade working in the nonprofit industry, Abbey moved to Miami where she worked as a consultant for nonprofits. Her main assignment was at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine to develop the strategy and programs for the Jay Weiss Center for Social Medicine and Health Equity. She now lives in New York City with her husband Patrick Dolan and two children, Evie (5) and Theo (8).
