A Fortune 500 company, the Kroger Co. is one of the largest supermarket and consumer products chains in the United States. The firm operates 2,476 supermarkets and department stores in 31 states under two dozen local names (including Kroger, Ralphs, City Market, Dillons, Smith’s, Fry’s, QFC, Bakers, Owen’s, Hilander, Gerbes and Scott’s). In addition to these, Kroger’s holdings include 393 fine jewelry stores, 737 supermarket fuel centers, 41 food processing plants and 779 convenience stores. The company reported fiscal sales of $76.7 billion for 2009.
