Medical technology specialist Becton, Dickinson and Company (“BD”) was founded in 1897 and patented its first product--an all-glass syringe--the following year. The company is now a leader in medical technology, with offices in dozens of countries worldwide. BD is divided into three segments: BD Medical, BD Diagnostics and BD Biosciences. It manufactures and sells medical devices and supplies, laboratory instruments, and diagnostic products. BD has been named one of the World’s Most Admired Companies in the Medical Equipment industry by FORTUNE.
