Established in 1942, the Voice of America is a news organization funded by the U.S. Information Agency. Its goal is to provide insightful data for “Americans and foreigners through short-wave radio transmissions.” Voice of America programming is about 70 percent news and 30 percent reporting on topics related to economics, science, agriculture, medicine, sports and American history and culture.
