Four years after the team was established in 1946, the San Francisco 49ers became a National League franchise—the first team on the West Coast. The 49ers boast five Super Bowl wins and five Vince Lombardi trophies in their illustrious history. In 2011, the team welcomed its 16th head coach, Jim Harbaugh. 49ers players inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame include football greats Joe Montana, Jimmy Johnson and Joe Perry.
