Peace Corps Internship Profile

The Scoop
The Peace Corps emerged in 1961 after President John F. Kennedy challenged Americans to serve abroad in the cause of peace and cross- cultural understanding. Since then, nearly 200,000 volunteers of all ages and ethnicities have served in 139 host countries. Among its many duties, the Peace Corps teaches English, promotes health awareness, advances an understanding of conservation issues in less economically developed nations, trains entrepreneurs in effective business practices and IT, and works with farmers to prevent soil erosion.
