Church and General George Wingate—Union veterans of the Civil War—became frustrated with their troops’ inability to shoot correctly. It has now grown into a national lobbying group, dedicated to preserving and upholding the Second Amendment, which gives U.S. citizens the right to bear arms. Millions of members support NRA in its causes to promote education, safety and marksmanship training.
