The president’s office established the division for equity and inclusion in July 2007 to develop an institutionwide plan for diversity, equity and inclusion. The division works closely with the deputy provost, deans, vice president for student affairs, student service offices and academic units to create a university environment that is responsive to diversity. The website for the division is diverse.unm.edu. The university has established a three-year plan with the following goals:

• Building minority student success in undergraduate and graduate programs
• Recruiting and retaining minority female faculty
• Engaging faculty in faculty development to support diversity, equity and inclusion
• Engaging staff and students in diversity and inclusion development
• Engaging various individuals across campus on leadership and management development
• Promoting a healthy campus climate
• Developing marketing, outreach and communication to support diversity initiatives
• Developing a structure for implementation and continuous quality improvement
