In 2006, Thelen Reid & Priest merged with Brown Raysman Millstein Felder & Steiner in the largest law firm merger of the year. With more than 600 exceptionally talented lawyers and their depth of experience and industry expertise, we are a leader in building the world's physical and digital infrastructure. The merger continues a legacy of over 80 years of growth and of expansion domestically, while extending a global reach with new offices in London and Shanghai. Thelen is uniquely positioned to support corporations and to maximize client service from a worldwide perspective.

A Great Place to Grow

Excellent service requires extraordinary people, which is why we invest considerable resources to recruit, develop, and retain talented attorneys and professionals. Our culture encourages creativity, innovation, and growth. We offer ample opportunities from junior levels to work on sophisticated legal matters across a variety of disciplines, from a national and an international perspective.

Our comprehensive training curriculum employs a "learn-by-doing" methodology, where associates get hands-on experience with sophisticated work in the early stages of their careers. Our Associate Development Model (ADM) supports career growth by clarifying firm expectations and the criteria by which we evaluate associates. We provide a road map for success for our associates whereby progress and development can be managed proactively. Thelen is a strong believer in integration and mentoring, so our associates can reach their full potential.

Work life balance is an important tenant of the firm's culture. Thelen is a firm that encourages life outside of work, not only with our flexible scheduling, but also through benefits and services such as maternity and paternity leave, domestic partner coverage, and emergency backup daycare.

Diversity: A Key to our Success

Diversity is a hallmark of Thelen's culture and essential to our success. We value different perspectives, and continually strive to reflect the diversity of our clients and their businesses at Thelen. In 2005, we won the California Minority Counsel Award for the majority law firm with the greatest commitment to diversity. Beginning in 2007, Thelen initiated an innovative 1L Diversity Fellowship program, providing both firm and in-house legal experience to talented first-year law students with a commitment to diversity.

Premiere Offices

Thelen placed 13th in the "best office space" category of Vault's 2006 Associate Survey. Most of the Thelen's offices are less than five years old, and have modern amenities throughout. Our Washington, D.C. office was profiled in Legal Times for a design that promotes a more social atmosphere. Each office's design provides a collegial work environment and supports cohesion throughout the office.
