Your Career at Booz & Company
Ninety-eight years of consulting results in impressive milestones. Currently the oldest management consulting firm still in business, we are focused on serving and shaping the senior agenda of the world’s leading institutions. Our founder, Edwin Booz, launched the profession when he established the first management consulting firm in Chicago in 1914. We have had a hand in the creation of the contract system for Hollywood movies, overseen the merger of the NFL and AFL, and steered the Chrysler Corporation out of bankruptcy. We pioneered the concepts of human capital, product life cycle and supply chain management, all mainstays of business and consulting today. And at the most fundamental level, we originated the term “management consultant.” Today, we operate globally with more than 3,000 people in 58 offices around the world.
We believe passionately that essential advantage lies within, and that a few differentiating capabilities drive any organization’s identity and success. We work with our clients to discover and build those capabilities that give them the right to win their chosen markets. We are a firm of practical strategists known for our functional expertise, industry foresight, and “sleeves rolled up” approach to working with our clients. What makes us different is the way we work with clients. We don’t just offer insight, nor do we instruct clients on what to do. We believe that the strongest way to help a client get it done is not to do it for them, but to help them build the capabilities to do it themselves.
Broad Client Exposure
We hold the unique status of being a global, top-tier advisor in both the public and private sectors. Joining our firm would mean wading into a client pool made up of some of the world’s largest and most prestigious organizations, often getting the chance to sit in a board room with the senior management of a global company. Our consultants gain broad exposure to clients beyond the traditional corporate world, working academic institutions, major charities, health care providers and law firms, among others.
In-depth Career Cultivation
We offer customized training programs and continuous mentoring to assist individual consultants in overcoming their weaknesses and developing their strengths. Our training programs address skills necessary for strong leadership, judgment, insight, teamwork and business development. Paired with this guidance, we maintain a clearly defined career path, along which dedicated consultants can rapidly advance. The skills you develop on the job and through our training programs not only prepare you for success as a consultant, but also prepare you to thrive in your career. Our alumni have gone on to enjoy distinguished careers as CEOs, entrepreneurs, and other business and community leaders.
Consulting is a business of ideas. Our experts' articles, reports and white papers have appeared in publications such as the Harvard Business Review, The Financial Times, The Economist, Bloomberg Businessweek, and The Wall Street Journal, and are read by captains of industry, academics and other consultants hoping to get a glimpse of the next big thing. We are a top thought leader in the consulting industry, having ranked first or second in Thought Leadership over the past three years by Source for Consulting’s White Space rankings, and have recently released several well-regarded books, including The Essential Advantage, Leading Outside the Lines, and The Right Fight. We publish the award-winning quarterly management magazine strategy + business, which has more than 130,000 subscribers, and frequently communicate our ideas through digital channels like video and social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Whatever the method of dissemination, we ensure that good ideas find the right audience.
