Our clients represent some of the most influential players in industries ranging from financial services to information technology, pharmaceuticals to transportation. In all our high stakes matters, for all our disparate clients, we uphold a standard of excellence, innovation and unwavering dedication to our clients’ interests. And our lawyers- graduates of the best law schools, active in civic, philanthropic and trade organizations, and holding leadership positions in government agencies, the judiciary, charities and corporate boards- personify that ethos of excellence.

Associates are our greatest assets
At Proskauer, our associates are our greatest asset. They represent the trajectory of our firm, and we foster their development as world-class lawyers. As such, we provide ongoing professional training to all, whether summer associates, entering classes or our more experienced players. Whether it involves "shadowing" a Proskauer lawyer, hearing a partner provide insight on a new aspect of the law, or honing skills with an outside consultant or professor, we prepare our associates well for their careers in law. Our summer associates are assigned projects, receive guidance and are evaluated with a focus on skill enhancement and exposure to legal practice at its most sophisticated level. New associates are welcomed with a program carefully designed to introduce them to the Proskauer culture and the challenges inherent in the skillful execution of their jobs, as well as provide them a solid foundation of legal, technical and communications skills. And to bolster our collaborative culture, we support a variety of retreats, as well as cultural, recreational and social events, affording all our associates the opportunity to build long-lasting relationships with one another that will benefit them throughout their legal careers. Many of these activities, i.e., attending major sporting or entertainment events, highlight our firm's unique clients.
Instilling in our lawyers a desire to serve
Proskauer has a long-standing dedication and commitment to pro bono activities, with a major emphasis on providing legal services to the disadvantaged and the poor. That commitment is manifested in our procedures for handling pro bono matters, as well as in the scope and diversity of our pro bono docket. Led by Chair Scott Harshbarger and Firmwide Pro Bono Counsel Stacey O’Haire Fahey, Proskauer's Pro Bono Initiative Committee brings together lawyers from every Proskauer office and every legal department, drawing from all levels of the organization to cultivate the pro bono spirit among lawyers and other staff. In order to introduce new lawyers to the personal and professional satisfaction of handling pro bono work, each first-year associate is assigned his or her own pro bono matter from one of our referral organizations. Our hope is that introducing associates to pro bono work early in their careers will help instill in them a long-term commitment to service.
Our pro bono work includes large matters as well as small, individual clients and not-for-profit organizations, litigated matters as well as transactional. We offer personal planning assistance to people who need wills; we offer labor and tax advice to community groups; and we offer immigration as well as political asylum representation for those in need. We also maintain ongoing referral relationships with many organizations, including The Legal Aid Society, Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, the ACLU, the District of Columbia Bar Association, the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence and Human Rights Watch.

All for one, one for all
Diversity is a core value and a fundamental element of our culture and our history. As a Firm, as professionals, and as individuals, we benefit from the breadth of views and the unique contributions that a diverse workforce brings to our organization. The insight gained from this collaborative approach propels us to fresh perspectives and creative solutions in the service of our clients. We fully understand that our commitment to diversity is essential to our commitment to excellence. Our dedication to this principle is reflected not only in how we embrace the diversity of the people of Proskauer, but also in the long-standing support we have given to the communities in which we live and work through our strong pro bono program.
The Firm is committed to ensuring that time and attention are paid to our goal of attaining equal opportunity and diversity in the practice of law. We have enhanced our efforts by forming a national diversity committee comprised of representatives from each of the Firm's offices. Partners, senior counsel, associates and other professionals play important roles in conceiving and implementing our diversity related programs and initiatives.
The Diversity Committee sponsors numerous programs throughout the year, including events, workshops and affinity groups. Proskauer currently recruits at law schools across the country, including law schools with significant diverse student populations such as Howard University School of Law. Proskauer also regularly participates in a number of career fairs and has implemented mentoring programs to provide our associates, counsel and partners of color, as well as our women and LGBT lawyers, with additional resources and opportunities for continued success at our firm.
