In 2008, Rothstein Kass placed No. 20 on Public Accounting Report's Top 100 list, which ranks the top accounting firms by U.S. revenue. In 2008, Rothstein Kass was ranked the No. 1 accounting firm for hedge funds by Alpha magazine, a sister publication of Institutional Investor. The annual rankings are based on feedback from hedge fund managers, who in this most recent survey gave Rothstein Kass the highest score in each of the following categories ? audit, regulatory and compliance, client service and hedge fund expertise ? allowing the firm to easily outdistance all of its competitors, including the Big Four.
Open-door management style
Rothstein Kass' employees praise the firm in the area of managers' treatment of juniors, describing senior staff as "very encouraging" with a real desire to "want employees to succeed." "Managers at the firm are extremely caring" and tend to be "conscientious of how [employees] feel about how things are going." They also "take the initiative to talk [to employees] on a personal, informal basis," which "takes the edge off of speaking with them."
Training a high priority
Rothstein Kass places a strong emphasis on training its employees, offering one week of training for new hires and several courses over the summer. In 2009, the firm formally launched Rothstein Kass University, evidencing its commitment to employees and their professional development. Employees say the "formal training is good," and some even say it's "excellent." In addition, there are "many opportunities to obtain CPE credits through courses."
