Highlights TE Connectivity

Leading the Way

With a 50-plus year history of leadership, TE Connectivity is a $15 billion global provider of engineered electronic components, network solutions, undersea telecommunication systems and wireless systems for critical communications networks. The company provides components for thousands of consumer and industrial products, and is the world's largest provider of passive electronic components. Millions of people use TE's products every day without even knowing it; its components can be found everywhere from cell phones to televisions, and from refrigerators to video games.

Worldwide Reach

TE ployems around 94,000 people worldwide, and many of them play a direct role in designing, manufacturing and marketing products for customers in industries including automotive, appliances, aerospace and defense, telecommunications, computers and consumer electronics. Each year, the TE team manufactures nearly 500,000 precision-engineered products.

Customer-focused

TE main focus is on its customers and it goes to great lengths to keep them satisfied. With operations in more than 45 countries, including manufacturing facilities in over 25 countries, the company ensures that it is located as close as is practically possible to its customers' operations. While many of TE's manufacturing locations are in emerging markets such as China and Eastern Europe, the company has a presence throughout the major regions of the world. Customers enjoy the twin benefits of competitive pricing and localized services.

Committed to Quality

Employees at TE can benefit from being given responsibility early in their careers. The company's goal is to continually provide safe, effective, high-quality products and services. To do so, TE does its best to ensure that its employees have the skills and training to perform tasks properly and efficiently. That commitment to getting things right the first time — and every time — is crucial for TE's products and services to continually meet the requirements and high standards the company is known for. Once trained, each of the company's employees has a critical role to play in maintaining its standards and reputation and all employees are empowered to maintain and manage quality and compliance, and customer satisfaction along with it.

That commitment to quality is something that extends far beyond TE's products and influences every aspect of the company's approach, including training and professional development. TE is heavily invested in professional development, and takes pains to ensure that all employees have the knowledge and skills they need to not only perform on the job, but to advance their careers. In addition to professional development courses in management, sales and engineering, the company also offers rotating assignments with accompanying training.

R&D all the way

Regularly spending approximately 4 percent of revenue on research and development, TE committed almost $600 million to product development in 2007 alone. That investment enabled the company to make significant advancements in bringing state-of-the-art technology to the consumer market. Among the company's achievements: being the first to introduce radar technology to the automotive market, introducing a fiber-optic connector with 72 fibers and becoming a market leader in the rapidly expanding world of touch-screen technology.

TE has amassed more than 17,000 patents and patent applications over the years, and takes pride in its spirit of continuous innovation. Not that it's all about coming up with the next best thing or hottest consumer item all the time. While those are undoubtedly areas of expertise for TE, the company is also on a constant quest to improve and upgrade existing technologies, a methodology that has continued since the days when an AMP electrical splice was used to upgrade the Slinky toy in 1945.

Employee Values

If customer satisfaction is the lifeblood of TE's business, employee satisfaction is what drives it. Accordingly, the company has enshrined a set of values that govern all of its relationships with its employees. Those core values are:

Integrity- Do the right thing.

Accountability- Take responsibility.

Teamwork- Work Together.

Innovation- Innovate.

Worldwide Commitment

As a reflection of the depth of TE's presence in China, and its commitment to corporate responsibility, the company donated some $1 million in emergency mobile communication and radio equipment in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that struck the Sichuan province in May 2008. Also, the company donated $150,000 to the Red Cross Society of China to help with the humanitarian efforts, while Tyco Electronics employees donated more than $200,000 through the company's internal Tyco Electronics China Earthquake Relief Fund.
