You may never have heard of Johnson Controls, but this Wisconsin-based company is most likely a big part of your life—and in more ways than one.  Johnson Controls makes automotive components including seats, instrument panels and batteries (a/k/a “power solutions”).  The company also manufactures environmental control systems used in buildings and equipment to detect fires and monitor room temperatures, such as air conditioning, heating and ventilation.  To support its many and varied ventures, the company has more than 1,300 locations worldwide, employing around 140,000 people in 125 countries.  The firm brought in a revenue of more than $38 billion in 2008.
