"If you are from a top school with decent grades and a journal or clerkship, you are a shoo-in," reports one source. "A mid-to-lower-tier school requires a higher ranking and more interesting experience." Schiff Hardin is said to look at the total package. "I think the firm looks to hire well rounded individuals who are academically solid but also successful in their personal lives and civic-minded, whether it be involved in their community, passionate about their hobbies, or involved in a neighborhood sports league or community organization," says one insider. You'd better be on your game with even the lowliest associate you meet. According to one contact, "It's a democratic place, where even first-year associates' opinions matter during the interview process."
