Insiders say Avis was a "fun, casual work environment" and that "the atmosphere seems to be on the way up," as "everyone in the business is targeted with finding better ways of working." Although the business climate for Avis is somewhat shaky after Cendant's recent breakup, sources are optimistic. "I think [Avis and Budget] are in good positions compared to [their] competitors," says one, and another agrees: "The outlook for [Avis] is promising, with current investment levels & and the focus shift to a worldwide [Avis] brand, which is aligning management objectives and defining employees' role[s] more." Another takes the long view, stating that "One contributing factor is the deteriorating domestic auto industry, since all rental cars are leased from Ford or GM, and increased auto prices, as well as gas prices, are increasing costs for the company."
