Top heavy and bureaucratic, but things are all right

One criticism several sources have hit on Wyeth is that it is “top heavy” and “bureaucratic.”  For instance, one respondent, a manager, says that there is a surplus of vice presidents, directors and senior directors, and that the “opportunity for advancement” is limited for new employees.  Another insider, a pharmaceutical sales representative, seems to agree and states that bureaucracy in Wyeth “can be difficult to overcome” and that there are folks that are “simply deadwood who can fuel slowdowns in processes.”

Wyeth’s corporate headquarters, with a staff of about 600 employees, accepts resumes for the limited number of positions that open up each year.  Wyeth’s subsidiaries, however, conduct their hiring autonomously to fit their particular needs.  Consult Wyeth’s home page, located at www.wyeth.com, for information about contacting these companies.  The site features an online search tool where prospective employees can fill out an application for a specific job and submit a cover letter and resume.
