A Century of Innovation

Founded in 1901 in New York City by two young lawyers, J. Du Pratt White and George B. Case, White & Case was the first U.S law firm to embark upon a global strategy. We served the Asian economic boom by launching offices in Hong Kong in 1978 and Tokyo in 1987. Our offices in Moscow, Warsaw, Prague and Budapest were established in response to the Iron Curtain's fall in 1989 and the surging legal needs in Eastern Europe which arose as a result. Today, this global strategy has evolved into a seamless network of 38 offices in 26 countries, providing a level of capability and service that many firms aspire to but few can match.

Tips from the inside

A corporate associate says that White & Case is looking for “candidates who we would feel comfortable presenting to clients and who are eager to accept responsibility early.”  As a DC contact puts it, the firm wants “driven individuals who are ready to work on very complex cases, but are also willing to commit a lot of their time in the process.”   And if you haven’t attended a top school, don’t worry. “We take solid candidates from top-5 schools, and top candidates from other law schools,” says an L.A. associate. “In my experience, some of our best attorneys are straight-A students from lesser-known / regional law schools.”
