”The requirements are getting harder each year,” says a source, which may be why CBH “seems to land top talent.” “We always have competition from the Big Four,” an audit manager notes, “but CBH is still able to be pretty picky in who they hire.” Sources say “minimum hiring requirements are 150 credit hours—eligible to sit for the CPA exam—and a 3.0 GPA.” However, says a senior manager, in practice “most new hires have a 3.5 or higher GPA.” Of course, it’s not just about grades. “The firm does look for people who will fit in to the culture.”
CBH “actively recruits at more than three dozen colleges and universities” around the country. There’s an emphasis “on the Southeastern U.S.,” with frequent stops at institutions like West Virginia University, Penn State, JMU, Virginia Tech and American. An Atlanta insider says, “We do an excellent job of campus recruiting,” and notes that “my office, specifically, has expanded to schools outside of Georgia, which is encouraging.” And don’t forget to log on to the firm’s website, as “applications are accepted for specific positions online.”
