Tips from the inside

According to a New Yorker, “The firm is looking for associates that are hard working and serious, but at the same time NOT stuffy and pretentious.”  At Cahill, Gordon & Reindel, being a go-getter with a great personality is valued more than the prestige of your law school.  According a corporate associate, “The recent summer classes have included very few people from the top schools.”  Given the value the firm places on character, interviews are absolutely essential.  Prepare to meet with one or two associates and one or two partners in a “standard BigLaw interview.”  A litigator advises, “Be prepared to ask questions about the firm.  The firm is looking for a self-starter with a great deal of initiative, someone who doesn't need hand holding.”
