Possessing one of most recognized name in the accounting industry has its privileges. Working at KPMG “opens a lot of doors if you decide to move on,” admits one insider. But beyond that, when it comes to the workplace culture, there are two sides to the industry Goliath’s coin. Employees are generally “very friendly,” and “even though it is a corporate culture, there is a lot of flexibility,” says one insider. And people are “generally happy,” “easy to work with” and “fun.” In fact, “fun” is a big buzzword at KPMG—”leadership tries to incorporate fun into the workplace as much as possible.” Regardless, workers are “very professional,” “very nice,” “always there to help” and “truly abide by the firm values.”

If you have the work ethic and the drive to make it in the industry, KPMG wants you. “If you are a solid candidate with experience in a growing practice, we can’t find enough people.” Though, snagging a full-time position is “competitive for undergrads.” The firm recruits “online,” “through universities,” “job fairs,” “referrals,” and “other locations and events.” In addition, the firm has set up a 17,000-strong online alumni network that includes personal profiles and information alongside job listings and company news. The system allows current, former and future employees to contact each other and build relationships, which KPMG has credited with aiding in recruitment and employee advancement.
