The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company is one of the largest manufacturers of gum in the world, accounting for approximately 60 percent of gum sales in the United States and about a third of the market globally. Its gum and confectionery brands include such venerable trademarks as Juicy Fruit, Big Red, Freedent Wrigley's Spearmint and Doublemint, Altoids, Life Savers, Hubba Bubba gum and Big League Chew. Products that are relatively new to the firm include top-seller Orbit, Eclipse, Extra and Boomer gums as well as Pim Pom and Sugus candies. Wrigley has recently tried to expand beyond gums, which in 2006 accounted for 85 percent of the company's sales. In October 2008, Mars, Inc., acquired Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company and made it its subsidiary. At the end of fiscal year 2007, the company reported revenue of $5.4 billion which is a 15.1 percent increase from that of fiscal year 2006.

An insider describes the workplace culture of Wrigley as “All work and no play” and “boring.” “One would think that the culture would be fun and exciting given that it is a confectionery company, but going into the office is like working for a laboratory, white walls, late hours, inside the box thinking,” the insider said. On the other hand, another contact said that the company gives good benefits and values trust, dignity and respect in all levels.
