Opening as a relatively small DC firm in 1983, Wiley Rein expanded from its original 39 attorneys to more than 130 attorneys in its first ten years of operation. The firm has remained loyal to its capital roots but now boasts more than 275 attorneys. Best known for its experience and connections in communications law, Wiley Rein is also home to a number of well-respected practices, including insurance, government contracts and international trade.
Growing Up on K Street
Wiley Rein was founded in Washington, DC by two attorneys with deep roots in the nation's capital: Bert Rein—a former U.S. deputy assistant secretary of state for economic and business affairs—and Richard Wiley—former head of the Federal Communications Commission.
