Well, well, well

WellPoint is one of the largest health insurers in the United States.  The company, or one of its subsidiaries, covers 34 million people in some fashion—that’s one in every nine Americans.  The company offers its health insurance products under the Blue Cross Blue Shield name in Georgia, New York and California and health, dental and life insurance under the Anthem brand in 11 states.  The company is licensed to provide health insurance and related products in all 50 states.  Company subsidiaries offer such services as pharmacy benefits, prescription fulfillment, medical audits and health savings accounts.  WellPoint is also contracted to provide Medicaid and Medicare benefits.

Not so well

The economic crisis has crippled even the large companies such as WellPoint.  According to an insider, the company slowly takes away health care benefits, bonuses and company-paid holidays from the employees every year.  Another insider argues that the company’s restructuring and financial/economic issues have also affected the opportunities for advancement.
