Weil, Gotshal & Manges SURVEY SAYS

Vault’s Verdict: The hours come in “peaks and troughs”, but the opportunities are rewarding, especially for those who work with London Managing Partner Mike Francies (“one of the best private equity practitioners in the world”). Don’t expect a “massive social scene” at this relatively small office; but, while there is a certain “macho” tint to the culture, it remains “socially pleasant”. Associates also laud the firm for its genuine commitment to diversity and pro bono service.

A lawyer’s life

•  “As with most jobs, work quality varies, but I feel that overall I am being given interesting work, which is rewarding and challenging.” – Associate

•  “I enjoy the work I do, but the workload is erratic and often far too heavy. Training and certain other areas of support are not of a good standard, meaning a lot of time is spent at work doing non fee-earning work.” – Associate
