ABOUT THIS COMPANY:

Made in the USA

The United States Steel Corporation, familiarly known as U.S. Steel, is an integrated steel producer with production facilities in the U.S. (obviously), Central Europe, Mexico and, as of its October 2007 purchase of Stelco, in Canada. The company has four main business units: flat-rolled products, U.S. Steel Canada (USSC, the former Stelco), U.S. Steel Europe (USSE) and tubular products. United States Steel SURVEY SAYS

High turnover, large company

Still, one contact "worked with absolutely the finest Blast Furnace people in the world" and says the "work ethic [U.S. Steel] helped me develop has made me what I am." "The outlook for the industry and [the] one for the company is about the same," says a Birmingham, Ala., insider. However, U.S. Steel has some "strengths," such as its "European involvement."
