ABOUT THIS COMPANY:

Get your motor running

Toyota Motor Corp. is Japan’s largest and the world’s No. 1 carmaker.  While it’s certainly best known for reliable models like the Camry and Corolla, Toyota is more than a carmaker.  It also provides retail and wholesale financing, retail leasing and other financial services, primarily to its dealers and their customers.  The majority of Toyota’s revenue is derived from its automotive and financial services, but it also has an “all-other” segment of nonautomotive business activities, the most significant of which are an IT sector and prefabricated housing.  Toyota’s consumers come from about 170 countries and regions.  Moreover, its financing segment services 33 countries and regions.  Toyota employs more than 320,000 workers.

Toyota SURVEY SAYS

Challenge and satisfaction

Toyota insiders know the company’s in good shape.  The “outlook is excellent,” says one, “Pick up any newspaper and read all about it.”  Another says, “For someone considering employment, [Toyota] has an amazing company culture, quality products and hardworking people.”  Contacts say the reasons for these success come down to “product innovation [and] streamlining operational business practices,” which can actually be a bad thing, as the company is not known for “sacrificing product quality for sales.”

Tips from the inside

Take a ride with Toyota

Toyota is always seeking qualified candidates, with a number of job opportunities for the right people.  Openings are searchable by state and department by visiting the company’s careers site.  All submissions should include salary requirements, detailed work history, education and the position being applied for.  Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America also offers co-ops and internships for college students; to be eligible, students must maintain minimum GPA of 3.0.  The company also targets new college graduates for some positions; these opportunities can be found from the careers website by selecting one of the department options under the “College” section.
