Boston's best

With 4,800 consultants in 74 offices in 42 countries, the firm ranks as one of America's Largest Private Companies, according to Forbes magazine. The firm's consultants—who have included notables such as Indra Nooyi, CEO of Pepsi; Jeff Immelt, CEO of General Electric; Jim Koch, founder, CEO and Brewmaster of Boston Beer Company; Sally Blount, dean of the Kellogg School of Management; Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu; and Grammy Award winner John Legend—are experts in a number of industries, including consumer goods, retail, financial services, industrial goods, social impact and nonprofit, energy, health care, insurance, technology, media, and telecom.

Getting Hired
Tips from the inside
Only the best
The recruitment process at BCG is “extremely selective,” say insiders, and “anyone who receives an offer has been vetted by at least four to six senior colleagues.” From what sources tell us, there appears to be “three rounds of interviews” adding up to six interviews in total. “Generally four are case interviews and two are with senior partners, who typically ask questions about the individual,” according to one insider. For “post MBA and PhD applicants, there are two rounds of interviews, with each round consisting of two one-hour interviews.”
BCG recruits for Asia Pacific from the “top MBA schools in the US and in Europe.” In Greater China, it also looks at high-fliers from the top local schools in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taipei. In Korea, Yonsei, KAIST and POSTECH feature prominently on the firm's recruiting list, while the University of Tokyo and Kyoto University are regulars on the list in Japan.
