ABOUT THIS COMPANY:
IP mogul2007 is a notable year for the Washington, DC--based intellectual property firm Sughrue Mion, PLLC. It marks the firm's fiftieth anniversary. When the firm was founded in 1957, Dwight Eisenhower was president, and some of the innovations that would form the substance of the firm's practice--in areas like biotechnology, e-commerce, and nanotechnology--were not even glimmers in the eyes of some wild-haired scientist. The firm has been around long enough to witness the birth of--and perhaps to litigate over--entire generations of new technologies.

Getting Hired
Tips from the inside
They want techies
Techies are a must at Sughrue Mion. Because of the firm's IP focus, an undergraduate degree in some technical science is a requirement. The firm casts a fairly wide net and recruits at approximately 25 law schools. That includes D.C. schools such as George Mason, Georgetown, George Washington and Catholic University, as well as national powerhouses like NYU, Yale, Penn, Columbia and Duke. Just for good measure, the firm expands its reach to slightly lower-tier schools with IP focuses such as Akron, Franklin Pierce, Hastings and UC Davis.
