    ABOUT THIS COMPANY:

    A huge neighbor

State Farm is among the foremost auto and home insurers in the United States.  The company also offers life and health insurance and runs State Farm Bank, a federal savings bank charter, which offers banking, annuities and mutual funds through agents, by phone and mail, and on the Internet.  However, insurance is the primary moneymaker for the company.  State Farm insures nearly 20 percent of all U.S. autos and auto insurance accounts for more than 50 percent of its policies and nearly 65 percent of its property and casualty premiums.  Homeowner’s insurance is also an important part of the company’s business.  State Farm insures approximately 20 percent of all single-family homes in the United States.  The company was ranked No. 32 on the 2008 Fortune 500 list of largest companies and State Farm proved to be even “larger” when it rose to No. 31 on the 2009 edition of the aforementioned list.  State Farm runs more than 755 claim offices countrywide to process the 71.6 million policies currently in force.  State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company is the parent of several wholly owned subsidiaries, including State Farm Life Insurance Company, State Farm Fire and Casualty Company, State Farm Indemnity Company and State Farm General Insurance Company, among others.

    State Farm SURVEY SAYS

    It’s all location

Much like the interview process, corporate culture “depends on the location” and “varies from department to department even in the corporate office.”  Contacts report a variety of day-to-day experiences with State Farm life.  “State Farm is a great place to work,” says one.  Another agrees that “it’s a fantastic company to work for.”  “Life at the Farm is just grand,” beams a particularly happy insider, and a contact gushes that “the best part about my job is I LOVE IT.”
