The company's got its hands in all manner of pies: real estate, insurance and financial services, fine art consulting and direct sales, to name a few.  But Southwestern (parent company of Southwestern Advantage which grew up in Tennessee) is more than the sum of its parts.  The long-established firm is quite focused on its employees—it's actually employee-owned, and its mission statement declares: "We build people. And those people build great companies."

Southwestern acts as a holding company.  The family includes Southwestern Advantage, which aids college students in meeting their university costs; Great American Opportunities, which provides fundraising support; publishing arm  Southwestern Publishing Group; Wildtree (sauces and oils, sold via home tasting parties); Southwestern real estate brokerage; Southwestern Investment Group, and several other subsidiaries that provide training and character development for students, potential international work-study candidates, and business professionals.
