We like to let our employees hit the ground running and we love when new hires take proactive roles on their projects. Sure, the learning curve is quick, but we’re eager to help you adjust. At many firms, it takes several years before consultants are given managerial responsibilities on projects. Increased responsibility from the get-go is just one of the benefits to working at a growing firm like Simon-Kucher & Partners. Maxie, a Boston-based senior consultant who began her career with us in Germany, recalls managing a work stream on one of her first projects.
YOUR CAREER AT Simon-Kucher & Partners
We hire employees at various stages in their careers, and like most consulting firms, also recruit heavily on campus- so many of our employees join us just after graduation (from undergrad, MBA, or PhD). Within our firm, consultants are divided into four levels (C1-C4), distinguished by prior work/educational experience and degrees of responsibility given to consultants. Out of undergrad, many consultants typically join us at the C1 or C2 level. It’s common for consultants who have completed their MBA or PhD to begin as a C3, C4, or even as a senior consultant (of which there are two levels).

You’d better fit!
“Each country has its own application process,” we are informed by insiders at Simon-Kucher, but as a rule, they believe the general rule to be: the smaller the office, the more difficult the process. In any case, the process is “highly selective”, with the London office recently receiving over 800 applications for four places. We're told there is “an emphasis on hiring nice and pleasant individuals who you can go for a drink with”. Explains one source, “Personal fit and motivation are at least as important as the ability to do the numbers.”
