SS&G is an independently owned accounting and management consulting firm headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. The firm, which in addition to Ohio, has offices in Kentucky, Illinois, and North Carolina, was created in 1968 when Theodore Saltz and Marvin Shamis merged their accounting practices and acquired the practice that belonged to Eugene and Walter Page. In the nearly 46 years since then, the firm has grown to approximately 525 employees and into the 39th-largest accounting firm in the U.S. by revenue, according to Accounting Today. SS&G’s services include assurance, tax, wealth management, business valuation, transaction advisory, and estate planning, among others. And it specializes in numerous industries, including construction, health care, manufacturing, nonprofits, restaurants, and real estate. More than 50 percent of SS&G’s partners have previously worked for a Big 4 firm, and over 15 percent have served as CEO, CFO, COO, or controller for a private company. The firm is led by Gary Shamis, its managing partner, who has been named one of Accounting Today’s “most influential people in the industry” 14 times.
