ABOUT THIS COMPANY:
Dominant in D.C.
Reznick Group is the 20th-largest firm in the U.S. by revenue, according to Accounting Today’s 2012 Top 100 Firms ranking. Reznick Group as also become the biggest accounting firm (aside from the Big 4) in the metro D.C. area. With three service lines (accounting, advisory and tax), the firm serves over a dozen industries, including health care, government, affordable housing, construction, commercial real estate, renewable energy, transportation and trucking, emerging businesses, mortgage banking, professional services, manufacturing, nonprofit organizations, employee benefits plans, and real estate investment trusts (REITS). Reznick Group’s roots go back to 1977 when three friends—David Reznick, Stuart Fedder, and Ivan Silverman—opened an accounting practice together in Washington, D.C. Reznick, Fedder & Silverman soon moved to roomier digs in Bethesda, Md., and from there expanded to a second office in Baltimore. More growth added locations in Charlotte, N.C., Atlanta, and Sacramento. In 2004, Reznick, Fedder & Silverman was reborn as Reznick Group—a moniker designed “to recognize every employee’s contribution to the firm’s success.” Success took the form of a merger with Illinois CPAs Friduss, Lukee, Schiff & Company in 2005, which added an office in Chicago. Reznick Group opened an office in Tysons Corner, Va., the same year. It opened additional offices in late 2006 and 2007 in Los Angeles and Austin. Interestingly, and unlike most other small and midsized accounting firms, Reznick Group’s offices aren’t clustered tightly in one region, but spread across the country.
