Shedding some lightOsram Sylvania is a leader in the global lighting industry. Headquartered in Danvers, Mass., the company is the U.S. wing of the Osram GmbH empire and sells products in North America under the Osram, Osram Sylvania and Sylvania brands. Osram GmbH is owned by Siemens AG, which is one of three companies that merged to found Osram back in 1919 (although the Osram name was previously registered by another of the three, Auer-Gesellschaft, in 1906). Siemens became the sole shareholder in Osram GmbH in 1978.
