70,100,000 barrels of beer on the wallMillerCoors, a recently formed joint venture of London-based SABMiller and Colorado-headquartered Molson Coors Brewing Company, combines the U.S. and Puerto Rico operations of the two firms. According to pro forma figures released by MillerCoors, the joint venture sold more than 70 million barrels of beer during the fiscal year that ended in March 2008. SABMiller owns 58 percent of the company, and Molson Coors has a 42-percent stake. Each brewer has a 50-percent voting interest in MillerCoors. With roughly 30 percent of the U.S. beer market, the company ranks as the No. 2 brewer in the nation, trailing only Anheuser-Busch. MillerCoors’ wide array of domestic brands includes Coors, Coors Light, Extra Gold Lager, Hamm’s, Ice House 5.5, Keystone Light, MGD 64, Magnum Malt Liquor, Mickey’s, Miller Chill, Miller Genuine Draft, Miller High Life, Miller Lite, Milwaukee’s Best Light, Olde English 800, Red Dog, Southpaw Light and Steel Reserve High Gravity. It also sells imports Cristal, Cusquena, Molson Canadian, Peroni Nastro Azzurro, Pilsner Urquell, Tyskie and Aguila as well as craft beers Blue Moon Belgian White, Henry Weinhard’s Private Reserve and Leinenkugel’s Sunset Wheat. The beer giant is also behind the specialty malt beverage Sparks, Foster’s, George Killian’s Irish Red, Sharp’s and Coors Non-Alcoholic.
