M&G equals IP. Merchant & Gould works exclusively on patent, trademark, and copyright issues. The firm was recently nationally ranked as one of the top two trademark-filing firms by Intellectual Property Today and one of the top seven IP plaintiff firms by IP Law & Business.

What does IP work mean? Staple diet at M&G includes the obtaining and registration of patents and trademarks for corporate clients, and also the counseling and litigation that goes with contested uses of the IP. What does that mean? An M&G lawyer successfully represented a company in the claim that John Deere can't stop competitors from painting their tractors green.

Laterals and industry experience

During the last several years, Merchant & Gould has achieved most of its growth through lateral attorney hiring. M&G also has a 2L summer program. Candidates with the scientific or technical degree that will qualify them to sit for the U.S. Patent & Trademark exam are considered ideal. When it comes to academic achievement, the firm wants attorneys whose grades put them in the top 25 percent of both their law school and undergraduate classes. Industry experience will definitely give you an edge.
