Sallie Mae ex-chief joins the fold
In June 2009, RSM McGladrey hired ex-Sallie Mae chief to be its president. Andrews, who served as Sallie Mae CEO when the student lender was nearly bought out by a consortium that included JPMorgan Chase, and Bank of America, stepped down to become president as the acquisition talks stumbled. RSM McGladrey parent company H&R Block expressed enthusiasm over Andrews’ appointment, citing his “extensive industry background and leadership experience.” Prior to his work with Sallie Mae, Andrews served for almost 30 years at the now-defunct Arthur Anderson.
